Double Backer Corrugator Machine for Corrugated Board Production Line

The double backer corrugator machine, also called a double facer, is a key machine in the corrugating section of a corrugated board production line. It is installed between the glue machine and the slitter-scorer machine. Through heating, pressing, and drying, it bonds the single-faced corrugated board with the liner paper to form 3-ply, 5-ply, or 7-ply corrugated board.

The double facer machine’s performance directly influences the production efficiency of the corrugator line, board flatness, and bonding quality. This equipment produces corrugated board with good strength and compression resistance. It can meet the packaging requirements of various industries, including home appliances, logistics, and export packaging.

Key Structure of Double Facer Corrugator

The stable operation of the double facer depends on a reasonable structural design. It consists of the heating section, the cooling section, and the drive system. Each part works together to complete the bonding, drying, and shaping of the corrugated board.

Heating Section

The heating section includes the steam pipes, heating plates, conveyor belt, and pressure rollers. It provides stable heat to gelatinize the starch in the adhesive, improving the bonding quality on the board. Meanwhile, it also bonds the single-faced corrugated board and liner paper together under pressure, forming multi-layer corrugated board.

Cooling Section

The cooling section consists of the upper and lower conveyor belts. After passing through the heating and pressing process, the corrugated board cools and sets during the conveying process. This helps reduce board warping and deformation and maintains good flatness.

Drive System

The drive system provides power for driving the double facer. The conveyor belts run smoothly and ensure the corrugated board moves continuously through the heating and cooling sections.

Working Principle of the Double Facer Machine

How does single-faced corrugated board form multi-wall corrugated board? It bonds the single-faced corrugated board and liner paper with the double backer corrugator machine. It mainly passes through the following process.

Step 1: Gluing

The single-faced corrugated board is preheated first, then enters the double facer machine. The glue application system evenly applies adhesive to the flute tips. It bonds the board with the liner paper. This prepares the board for the following pressing process.

Step 2: Heating and Pressing

The glued single-faced corrugated board and liner paper are fed into the heating and pressing section. The heating plates provide stable heat to improve the bonding effect. Meanwhile, the pressure rollers press the single-faced corrugated board and liner paper together to form a stable corrugated board structure.

Step 3: Cooling

After heating and pressing, the corrugated board comes into the cooling section. The upper and lower conveyor belts help transport the board while it gradually cools and sets. This process improves board stability, reduces warping and deformation, and maintains good flatness.

Step 4: Output

After the setting process, the multi-layer corrugated board is delivered to the next processing stage.

Why Choose AGICO Double Facer Corrugator

Flexible Configuration

Different corrugated boards have different requirements for heating and pressing conditions. AGICO PAPER double-facer corrugation machine can be flexibly adjusted based on production speed and board layers to meet different production needs. This flexibility helps you reduce production adjustment difficulties, improve equipment utilization, and support long-term stable production.

Intelligent Control System

The AGICO PAPER double-backer corrugator machine is equipped with a PLC control system. The heating and pressing process is precisely controlled through the PLC system. This helps reduce manual operation errors. The intelligent control system also simplifies equipment operation. It improves production stability and consistency.

Stable Production Performance

Board stability is an important factor in corrugated board production. AGICO PAPER uses a stable transmission and control system to help maintain consistent corrugated board quality. Our equipment also supports 150-250 m/min production speed, meeting the continuous production needs of 3-ply, 5-ply, and 7-ply corrugated board.
